Blurb: Brett Derwent thinks he has life all planned out. With the freedom of college life just months away, Brett’s eagerly awaiting some fun and independence… until he meets Tommy Hawks. Over the course of one northern Montana summer, an intense romance blooms between the young men, but Tommy has a painful secret—one that even first love can’t mitigate. Continually brutalized by his violent father, Tommy is pushed to the edge, torn between the desire to protect his mother and four siblings, and his fear of losing the love he never expected to find.

When the unthinkable happens and Tommy’s father is found dead, Brett is afraid to learn the truth. Appalled to think that his lover may be responsible, Brett must face impossible questions: how much of his life—of his youth—is he willing to sacrifice for Tommy, and will having faith in him be enough?

Review:
What can I say? It's captivating, well written and stands apart from most other novels in its genre.
That said, I have to admit it was a little much for me. If it was written with any less skill or ability, the book would have been unreadable. As it is, M. King uses her skill to draw you in, then she proceeds to sharpen her nails on your soul. Quite forcefully. Every good novel should have its share of misery, after all, life is not a fairy tale. But there is such a thing as too much. So much that you find yourself begging the writer to give you a break. It is a mark of a good writer when a novel invades your life, dreams and soul. Make no mistake, this book will do that. However, misery, like all powerful emotions, should be doled out only occasionally. Otherwise, it becomes a cheep trick. I don't believe M. King needs to resort to those to sell her work.

Title: Safe House

Author: M. King

Genre: m/m fiction

Print length: 43 pages

Publication date: August 19, 2009

Overall reviewer rating: Four Stars

Blurb: Confused and embarrassed by his desires, Simon resolves to keep them secret at all costs, especially from his boyfriend, Frazer. Unable to face the thought of potential rejection, Simon vows he’d rather lose Frazer than admit the truth, but when everything comes tumbling out into the open, there’s nowhere left to hide….

Review by K. E. Dean:
Safe House is an engaging story about honesty and boundries. Simon and Frazer have a newly established relationship, but Simon has been keeping a secret from his lover. M.King wonderfully details Simon's struggles with his dishonesty, his desire to confess, and his overwhelming fear of Frazer's reaction. The resolution of this conflict is handled beautifully, especially Frazer's sometimes awkward willingness to fulfill Simon's needs.

Touching, loving and passionate. I really enjoyed reading this, and I especially liked that the ending wasn't ridiculously sappy, as some such stories do.

Blurb: Before the Fall of Lucifer, Heaven was at peace. Two angels knew perfect love, until the rebellion parted them.

Banished to Hell for his role in the plot, fallen angel Xaphan is doomed to tempt and seduce human souls while, high above, Hael, his former lover, is supposed to be the angel of kindness who brings compassion into their world.
Both are unhappy with their lot, but a meeting with one human soul will change their lives.

Review by K. E. Dean:
Wow. I can't stop reading this story. Not only is it really hot and steamy, but it's so profound. M.King has a well developed plot history with interesting characters and a very intriguing view of guilt, sin, love and religion in general. Intended to be an entertaining, erotic read, which it succeeds at fantastically, "After the Fall" also causes the reader to ponder the existential aspects of God. Absolutely love it!
